Katherine Ann "Kay" Ray

Katherine (Kay) Ann Ray, 65, went to Heaven on January 20, 2022. Kay was born in Oklahoma City in 1957, the first child of Raymond and Mildred Ray, both deceased. She was a 1975 graduate of Del City H.S. and received her accounting degree from Oklahoma State University in 1979. Upon graduation she quickly passed the Certified Public Accountancy examinations. After college Kay worked for a few accounting firms and corporate accounting departments until she started a practice that catered to the needs of nonprofit organizations. At her death she served as the Director of Finance at the Homeless Alliance, a job and mission that she truly loved.Kay was a loving mother to her son, Kevin Scheller. Kevin met and fell in love with Shannon Sayers and they gave birth to Kay's only grandchild, Mary. Kay thought Mary "hung the moon" and was the smartest granddaughter anyone could ever hope for. She loved to brag about Kevin, Shannon and Mary to anyone within earshot. Kay went to any event Mary did except hunting, even grandmothers have limits. She is survived by her brother, Joe Ray, and his family – Peggy, Luke, Becca and Libby. She is also survived by her cousins Charles Towe (Marjean), David Towe (Mary), Glen Ray (Marsha), Jan Meeks (Mike), Fay Ray, Shirley Miller, Bob Scheer (Pat), and Kim McCarley (Donnie). Kay loved being around family even if she "didn't get around to it like she should".Kay was very involved with Christ the King Catholic Church and served in the St. Lawrence Ministry there. We will be gathering for a celebration of life on Wednesday, January 26th at 11:00 AM at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3214 N.
