Kathy, 93, died peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Integris Hospice House. She was born on January 2, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Howard and Catherine Berg. She grew up in Taylorville, Illinois and then moved to St. Louis to attend Washington University School of Nursing. After graduating in 1950 Kathy was head nurse of the womens surgical division of Barnes Hospital. While there she met Dr. Joseph Martin and they started their married life in St. Louis on December 19, 1953. They lived in Michigan, Florida and Iowa before settling in Oklahoma City in 1959 and celebrated their 69th anniversary this past December. Kathy was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who built a legacy of traditions and fun memories for her large family. When not busy raising her family and being a doting grandmother Kathy loved to volunteer, serving at Deaconess Hospital for many years, tutoring students at North Highland Academy, and faithfully caring for her community at St. Francis of Assisi parish. She loved to play tennis, travel, took classes at OCU, was an avid reader and accomplished at needlepoint, making the family personalized Christmas stockings that filled the mantle from end to end.She is predeceased by her brother Joe Berg and grandson Justin Martin.Kathy leaves behind her dear sister Lucille Dingmann (Mike) of Oklahoma City; 4 children and their spouses whom she loved as her own, Stephen (Malinda) Stillwater; Jeff (Janice), OKC; Jill Carter (J.G.), Richmond, VA; Janet Pfeffer (Ron), Amelia Island, FL; 14 grandchildren, Kiel Martin (Edmond); Melissa Ryan (Dan), Asheville, NC; Carolyn Pfeffer (Dave Gamble) West Hartford, CT; Timothy Martin (Jamie), Chicago IL; Ross Martin (Jennifer), OKC; Kelsey Maloy (Chase) Asheville, NC; Allison Pfeffer (Dwight Henderson) Wethersfield, CT; Meredith Kathleen Perks (David), Richmond, VA; Grant Martin (Taylor), Kailua, HI; Joe Pfeffer (Caitlin Szabo), Sandy Springs, GA; Sean Carter (Michelle), Richmond, VA; Luke Martin, Ft. Collins, CO; Meagan Ettari (Brian), Pensacola, FL; Audrey Carter, Chicago, IL; and 16 great grandchildren Gavin, Declan, Molly, Connor, Campbell, Will, Jeffrey David, James, Ellie, Everett, Hayes, Holden, Ford, Elliott, Vera and Ruby.The family is forever grateful for the loving care of nurse and friend JJ Jones. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 11:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1901 NW 18th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. A wake will be held on Friday, February 10th, 6pm at Smith and Kernke, 14624 N.
