Kathleen (Kathy) Mary Norris Carter, was born September 21, 1943 in Oklahoma City to William Ball Norris and Bettye Folmar Norris Schwartz. She passed away January 25, 2022 in Oklahoma City, following a brief illness. She graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1961, attended Oklahoma City University, and married Robert (Bob) Trenton Carter in August of 1963. Kathy was a talented pianist, and served as accompanist for the renowned Northwest Classen Cry-Slurs throughout high school. Through the Lyric Theatre Guild, Kathy, Bob, and friends performed with Lyric Preview – a sampler of music from each show performed city-wide to promote each upcoming season. Kathy valued family above all else, and was a loving wife and mother, who instilled a love of music into her children. Kathy's parties and family gatherings were full of warmth, grace, light, and music. She will be loved, honored, remembered, and missed deeply by those who were fortunate enough to know her.Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Jon Folmar Norris. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bob; daughter, Amy Kristin Carter Freeman and husband Tom Freeman; daughter, Sallye Anne Carter Atkins and husband Greg Atkins; grandchildren, Holly Elizabeth Norcom and Carter James Norcom; sister-in-law, Marsha Louise Halihan and husband Lynn Halihan; niece, Julie Christine Norris Provine and nephew, Col. Christopher Erick Backus, USAF, MC and wife Yolanda Backus, MD; and many, many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or your favorite charity. Services will be at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on N. May Avenue at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, with interment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
