Kathryn Lawson

Kathryn Louise (Kauffman) Lawson, passed away peacefully while surrounded by love on July 23, 2017. Kathy was born to Elizabeth and Edward F. Kauffman on May 21, 1945, in Oklahoma City. A graduate of Northwest Classen High School (1963), she later relocated to Lawton, OK where she spent her career as a legal secretary and a mentor. Her life is most notably marked by her influence of guiding others through some of the most difficult seasons in life. Kathy saw countless lives transformed for the better. She often said, "One day at a time," and encouraged others to "do the next best thing." A lover of the outdoors, she spent weekends hiking in Wichita Mountains with her son Larry, picking Weeds, gardening, and watching great movies. She was known for her spirited personality, strength, and for seeing the good in everyone. In the fall, you could find her yelling at the TV during OU Football games and cheering for the Thunder in the spring. She was intent on not being a consumer but was very proud of finally being able to buy the car and bed of her dreams. Kathy is survived by her sons, Larry Lawson (fiancée: Molly K. Allis), Jeffrey Lawson (wife: Carol), and Christopher Lawson (wife: Stephanie); as well as, her brother, Christopher Kauffman, and sister, Elise Kauffman. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 28th, 2017 at Smith & Kernke 23rd Street Chapel (1401 NW 23rd St., Oklahoma City, OK 73106) with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
