Katie Elizabeth Cooke was born September 1, 1994 in Oklahoma City, OK to parents Mike and Carrie (Darcey) Cooke. Katie suddenly passed away at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN on May 3, 2023 surrounded by her family after a life-long battle with Congenital Heart Disease. Everyone should take comfort in knowing Katie is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior. Katie graduated from Bethany High School in 2013 and went on to earn her degree in apparel merchandising from Oklahoma State University in 2017. After completing college, she returned to Oklahoma City and lived her life to the fullest. Her proudest accomplishments in her short career ranged from retail apparel, certified teaching and being a nanny for Karter and Monroe, who shared Katie's love for butterflies and giraffes during many trips to the OKC Zoo over the past 6 years. Katie leaves behind her parents Mike & Carrie Cooke, brother Evan Cooke, his beautiful wife Chelsea Cooke and their adorable daughter Chandler Cooke. Katie also leaves behind a special boyfriend Dahlton Brown and a long list of aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved dearly.For those who truly know Katie understand that her spirituality, smile, wit and enthusiasm provide the strength for each of us to move forward. She fought this battle courageously and ultimately defeated it. Katie helped other kids with similar health needs and their parents understand the battles ahead and how it is okay to ask for help. Katie would want each of you to know that her parents are still here to support each of you with any struggles you are having along your path. The family would like to thank the medical and support staff at Oklahoma Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK., Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis TN. and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville TN.
