Kenneth Earl Aloysius Joseph Dunn was born on his family farmstead in Humboldt, Nebraska on June 26, 1938. He departed this earth peacefully on October 13, 2014, surrounded by his wife of 49 years and loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ermanell and Earl Dunn. Early in his life, Ken showed a love for science with a specific passion for the discipline of electronics engineering. His practice of this would lead him to the International Engineering and Science Fairs, of which he earned top honor two years in a row at the ages of 15 and 16. He was a graduate of Central High School in 1956, and went on to attend OCU in 1957. He held a first class radio operators license as well as his pilots rating. He carried his passion in the field of electronics by working at RCA in Dayton, Ohio from 1957-59. He then taught school at Draughon from 1959-61, H.C. Lewis 1963-66, U.E.I. 1966-68 and The University of Oklahoma 1968-69. He was a deputy sheriff for Oklahoma County in the 1970's. He was a hands on owner, alongside his wife, of an electronics supply and manufacturing company in OKC for 45 years, and traveled extensively as a duplicating studio engineer. Kenneth was a Ham radio operator for 15 years. He enjoyed meeting and assisting his fellow radio operators at Ham Fests. He is survived by his wife, Sammie S. Dunn, daughters Kimberly (James), Stephanie, and Christina (John). HIs five siblings, Lynn, Pauline, Roger, Pam and Tony. Kenneth served as an altar server at St. Joseph's Cathedral and was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish. "Papa", was NEVER too busy to spend time with and dote on his seven grandchildren, Jessica, Aaron, Sarah, Brandon, Payton, Eric and Miles and many nieces and nephews. He had many great memories with his brother in law and best friend Ed Walker. An Evening Prayer Service will take place at 6pm on Thursday, October 16th at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (1401 N.W. 23rd St., OKC, OK). Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11am on Friday, October 17th at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (1901 N.W. 18th St., OKC, OK). Interment will immediately follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery. Silent key, N5WKV.
