Lana Jeanne Tyree

Lana was born on January 29, 1945, in Oklahoma City. She was never one to sit and watch the parade go by. She wanted to be an active part of everything. Lana liked to solve problems, improve on what’s going well, and push boundaries. In other words, she wanted to make a difference.

Lana graduated from NW Classen in 1963. She attended OSU for one year - remaining a loyal and true Cowboy for life. She graduated from OCU in 1968 with a major in psychology. In 1971, Lana graduated from OU law school, earning a Juris Doctorate.

Practicing law was Lana’s passion. She chose civil law, believing that she could not only help individuals but change laws to benefit all of society. In her 50-years of practicing law, Lana most definitely accomplished – and surpassed – her goal.

Lana was also exceptionally talented and creative using photography, artistry, and poetry to express herself. She spent 21 days photographing the Murrah Building bombing site, documenting the tragedy.

Lana loved to travel. Her favorite destination was Africa, where she went on numerous photographic safaris.

Lana passed away on December 23, 2023, after courageously fighting vascular dementia.

Lana was preceded in death by her father, James Tyree, mother, Eula “Pepper” Brown, brother, Terry Tyree, and aunt, Eunice Woody. She is survived by her uncle, Charles Tyree, cousin, Allan Woody, nieces, Teri Lynn Bond and Julie King, and many friends in both the US and around the world.
