It is with great sadness the family of LaVern B. Goetz announces his passing. Vern left this life on Tuesday, December 4th at the age of 90 years, 8 months and 10 days. LaVern was born on March 24, 1928 in Victoria, Kansas to Mathilda and Bernard Goetz. He married Janette Krippner on August 21, 1954 and to this union were born six children.
LaVern spent most of his career as chief chemist at the Fuels Division of the Oklahoma Corporation Commission and later as a Director. LaVern served his country in the Army during the Korean War and later in the Air Force Reserves and the Oklahoma National Guard, obtaining the rank and retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Vern spent his free time coaching his children in their school sports activities and supporting them in both Girl and Boy Scouts. He loved growing roses for his wife.
Vern will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Janette: his daughters, Mary (Craig), Ann, and Jane (Phil), his sons: Anthony (Diana), Paul (Marikaril) and John (Beth) his grandchildren: Karl, Sair, Zachery, Joanne (Cody), Aaron (Katherine), John (Samantha), Kaitlin (Brian), Dustin and Tessa, his great-grandson, George, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerry and his sister Gladys.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 9th at 6:00 p.m., at Smith & Kernke Funeral Homes, 1401 NW 23rd Street, OKC, OK. Funeral Service in memory of Vern will be held on Monday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Church, 1901 NW 18th Street, OKC, OK. Interment with military honors will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
