Lester Louis Herman 'The Rev. Lester L. Hall

Lester L. Hall went to live with his Lord and Savior Jesus, whom he has trusted in his entire life. Lester L. Hall was born Oct.11, 1922 in Mequon Wisconsin, to Frieda and Arthur Hall, who preceded him in death. Also, he was preceded by his brother Eugene Hall and brother-in-law Irvin Doner. He is survived by his tender, beloved wife Irma of 62 years of marriage, two daughters, Linda Hall & Janet Winek; son-in-law, Dr. David Winek; two grandchildren Jessica Schultz (Matt Schultz) & Michael Winek (Lauren Barth), sisters-in-law June Hall & Diane Doner, many nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. In 1949, he served as vicar at St. John's Lutheran Church, Decatur, Illinois. There he met his beloved wife. He was asked to do an additional 2-year vicarage in order to begin missions in Tokyo, Japan. While there, he attended St. Sophia University. Upon returning from Japan he married Irma August 16, 1952. In 1953, he graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, Illinois. After ordination, he was assigned to begin the First Lutheran Church in Irving, Texas. After the organization and initial church building was completed he accepted a call to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Oklahoma City in 1957, where he served faithfully for 31 years. Over the years, he served on various committees and positions of the Okla. District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. Rev. Hall helped sponsor two families from Vietnam; this led to lifelong friendships. Rev. Hall continued his studies at The University of Okla. where he received an additional degree. After retirement, he served interim ministries: Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Kingfisher, St. Mark and Holy Trinity Lutheran Churches of Edmond & Our Savior Lutheran Church in Guthrie. His primary joy in ministry was to engage people in conversation which led to sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ whenever possible. Viewing will be from 9 am-7 pm with family present from 5-7 pm on Friday, Sept 5th at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home. The celebration of his life will be 2:00pm Saturday, Sept 6th at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1800 N.W. 36th. Gifts may be made in Rev. Hall's memory to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
