Linda Maye (Andress) Harris was born July 16, 1937 in Ponca City, OK and died December 12, 2018 at her home in Oklahoma City. Her parents were Vernon Ernest Andress and Ivah DeMaye (Sample) Andress. Linda grew up in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1955. She then came to Oklahoma City University (OCU), where she met her beloved husband, Claude Milner Harris, on a blind date. They were married August 29, 1959. She was always an outstanding student and won several scholarships and awards for scholastic achievement, including being named first in her class in both her undergraduate studies, where she majored in English with minors in French and secondary education, and in her law school class at OCU 20 years later. Linda taught school for 5 years until her children were born, obtained a Master's Degree in Library Science from OU and practiced oil & gas law and business law for approximately 20 years after 1979. Linda loved cats, dogs, music, art, reading, travel, needlework, and spending time with friends and family. In addition to her husband, her survivors include her daughter Elena Marie Harris and husband Philip Ashlock, Edmond, OK; her son Matthew Colby Harris and wife Joanne Schmidt Harris, and grandchildren Katherine DeMaye Harris and Joseph Matthew Harris, all of Monument, CO. Also, her brother Robert Sample Andress and wife Joan Smith Andress, and her husband's brother, Thomas Harris and wife Pat Mason Harris. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother's first wife Dixie Washington Andress. Services will be held in Brill Chapel, Epworth Villa, 14901 N. Pennsylvania Ave. on December 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM. There will be no viewing. Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF), Central Humane Society of Oklahoma City, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
