Linda McGee Seikel was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Jennie and Master Sergeant Charles Hartney on December 18, 1947. After receiving a degree in sociology from the University of Oklahoma, Linda's life took an unexpected turn when she was hired as an interior designer at Cunningham Interiors. Her mentor and lifelong friend, Lyle Cunningham, encouraged her keen sense of style. Her natural talent and tenacity lead her to a design career that brought her recognizable style to homes and offices throughout Oklahoma and around the country. Eventually she opened Linda McGee Designs and developed many meaningful client relationships.
In 1983, Linda married Paul Seikel and together they built the successful "Pearl's Restaurant Group". Noted for their "fun, fresh and affordable" dining, Linda's influence could be felt in every restaurant. Her fine attention to all details of the dining experience, from the choice of décor, the presentation of the food and the attentiveness of the staff, established the Pearl's Restaurant Group as an enduring success. Linda assisted many other restaurateurs with their design, both locally and nationally.
Linda was known as a hard working businesswoman, a loyal friend, but most importantly as a loving mother. She had great pride in her two sons. Linda is survived by Brian and Whitney McGee and their son Garrett of Flower Mound, TX; Paul "Beep" Seikel Jr. of Denver, CO; Beep's father Paul Seikel of Oklahoma City; her stepbrother and sister in law Doug and Alice Hines of Grapevine, TX; and stepbrother Gary Hines of Wichita Falls, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Greg and stepmother Autavee Hartney. She leaves behind many friends, employees and extended family all who grieve her unexpected death after a short illness.
Services will be held on Tuesday, January 29 at 2 P.M. at Smith & Kernke located at 14624 N. May Avenue. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, a cause that Linda supported.
