Linn Sims Yount

On February 17, 1952 Homer and Peggy Coverdale received a gift of love and they brought home Linn Coverdale. We have seen parts of her young life played out on slide shows and old clicking videos and black and white photos. Life in those images always seemed to be happy and full of joy for her, especially when she got two baby brothers, Leroy and James Coverdale. Through time she became a young lady and eventually a young mother to Kenny Sims and then Tammy Sims. She worked a lot to get through nursing school and raise two children. Over the years she has cared for many sick people and assisted in countless surgeries and helped bring babies into the world. She witnessed firsthand the beginning and ending of life. On July 3, 1980 she married Steven Oliver Sims and then came her baby boy Wes Sims. She had found true love and persevered through better and worse and in health and sickness and the young death of her husband, Steve. She never realized that during everything she experienced, her children and grandchildren were watching and learning how to be a parent and a spouse and how to be a friend. She set an amazing example of strength, beauty and grace. Finally, her life lit up with grandkids. Kenny's sons, Dakota and Corbin, were her first baby boys to hold in a long time and she was there helping both of them into the world. Madalinn was her first granddaughter and they grew to be like peanut butter and chocolate, they were always meant to be together and never parted without signing "I Love You". In August 2001, she met Phil and finally found her forever love. They married February 26, 2003. Phil made her life awesome. They loved each other to the ends of the earth. They always had a great adventure planned. Whatever she wanted, Phil made sure she got it. Whatever made her happy made him happy. He loved her more than she had ever thought possible. He took all of her heathens and her grandkids in like they were his own, because from that moment they were his too. Through Phil, Linn gained another son, Dustin and she loved Dustin as if she had known him forever. Dustin and his wife, Ann, gave Linn and Phil two more joyful, fun grandsons, Bo and Deegan. When Kenny married Stacey, she got two bonus granddaughters, Taylor and Tylor, both adored by Grammy. Wes and Chelsea provided her last little blessings by giving her two more babies to love, Olivia and Cal. Linn's world revolved around her grandkids. They lit up her life like sunshine. What she wanted most was for Pepa and all of their kids and grandkids under one roof getting along and laughing and loving each other. We gave her that as often as possible because that's what made her happy and when momma's happy, everyone is happy. She never failed as a mother. She never failed as a wife. She never failed as a Grammy. She was always first to stand up for what she believed and always first to stand up for her family. She was always generous and available for anything her kids and grandkids needed or wanted. She is the epitome of unconditional love. She taught us so many great lessons and the greatest of these is that time together is always important and true love ends only in death....even then our loved ones remain in our hearts and our memories. Linn Sims Yount joined her family in heaven on February 19, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Peggy Coverdale; her first husband, Steve Sims; her only nephew, Brayden Coverdale. She is survived by her husband, Philip Yount; her children and her grandchildren; her brother and his wife, Leroy and Christi Coverdale and her favorite niece, Holly Hendershott. Funeral service will be held Friday, February 24 at 10 a.m. at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home Chapel, 14624 N. May Ave., Oklahoma City.
