Lon Foster, III was born September 6, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA. He passed away peacefully August 17, 2021, at the age of 78.Lon grew up in Oklahoma City, OK spending summers working in the greenhouse at Foster's Flowers, the family business. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1960 and The University of Oklahoma with a degree in Liberal Arts with distinction in 1964. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In 1967 he graduated with a J.D. from The University of Michigan School of Law.Lon practiced law for over 50 years with several major firms in several major cities. He began in Los Angeles, CA with Nossaman, LLP, returning to Oklahoma City, OK as an associate at Crowe & Dunlevy. He practiced with Kelly Hart and Hallman, LLP in Fort Worth, TX for a period before returning to Crowe & Dunlevy as a partner. In 1995 he relocated to Tulsa to head the business section of the new Crowe & Dunlevy Tulsa offices. In 2003 he became of counsel to Fellers Snider in Tulsa, OK.Lon's areas of expertise were mergers and acquisitions, business and securities. He represented many closely held companies and was involved in multiple and diverse acquisition, disposition, merger and acquisition transactions. His sense of humor and wonderful laugh saved more than one transaction.Lon represented the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce as legal counsel and served as a board member of 12 & 12, Inc. and the Tulsa Ballet. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Lon was a friend of Bill W's for over 42 years.Lon was predeceased by his parents and his son, Jason.He is survived by his wife, Mary McMahon, his brother Randy (Mary), his children, Jeffrey Foster (Katherine), Scott Foster (Allison), and Clark McMahon. Lon is also survived by his grandchildren, Jack, Sean, Charlotte, Luke, Emma and Olivia.Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on August 28, 2021, at Smith-Kernke Funeral Home, 14624 N May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK.Contributions in his memory may be made to The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, 1304 N Kenosha, Tulsa, OK 74106 or The Tulsa Day Center for The Homeless, Inc., 415 W Archer, Tulsa, OK 74103.
