Lorraine was born in Hartford, Connecticut on January 28, 1935 to Herbert George Wagner and Genevieve Kathryn McLaughlin Wagner. She grew up in Hartford and went away to college in Wichita, Kansas. She attended Sacred Heart College and graduated with honors with a Bachelor's degree in History. Her first job was with the Girl Scouts of America, in the East Texas Division, where she flourished. She became the youngest Executive Director for the East Texas Girl Scouts. As Executive Director, she established the first week long stay away camp for African American Girl Scouts. While living in Paris, Texas she met Donald Dean Norwood and within the year they were married. Together they moved to Oklahoma City. Lorraine and Dean raised five children. Being a wife and mother were joys in Lorraine's life. Lorraine's faith was remarkable. She welcomed many others into her life and graced them with her wisdom, wit and unconditional love. She has always been and will always be an unsung hero to her family, friends and those blessed enough to have encountered her.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother – Reverend George Wagner, her daughter Kathryn Munsell and son-in-law Peter Cleeland.
She is survived by her daughter Dr. Lauren Cleeland, her son Kristopher Norwood and wife Bonnie, son-in-law Scott Munsell, son George Norwood, daughter-in-law Janet Norwood, son Michael Norwood and wife Starla. Grandchildren: Joshua Cleeland, Victoria Cleeland and wife Anna, Brianna Singleton and spouse Aiden, Samantha Wilkinson and husband Allen, Jessica Givens, Tiffany Munsell, Andrew Munsell, Michael Munsell, Kaitlyn Munsell, Kristofer Norwood, Seth Norwood and wife Macy, Ethan Norwood, Casee Norwood, Tristan Norwood, Cody Norwood, Shyann Norwood, Ashley Morgan, Jennifer Norwood and Zachary Norwood. Great Grandchildren: Atticus Colbert, Kiely Givens, Marleigh Givens, Blayke Givens, Kaiden Bonham, Chloe Bonham, Emiliano Juarez, Leroy Munsell, Aiden Moore, Kayson Cleeland, Madelynn Parham, Leo Parham, Brigid Cleeland, Mona Cleeland, Jebidiah Welke, Kaden Minter, Mya Conroy, Cameron Conroy, Elizabeth Norwood and Remington Norwood. And, two more expected this year.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 9am-6pm with an evening prayer service at 6pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (1401 NW 23rd Street OKC, OK 73106). Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (1901 NW 18th Street OKC, OK 73106) with interment to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
