Luanah Louise Courtney (Jones), 81, of Oklahoma City died on January 9, 2023. She was born on January 4, 1942, in Oklahoma City to Dan and Elsie Jones. Luanah was an accomplished dancer and musician at an early age. She started teaching dance at age 12, then she and her sister, Sharon, opened their first dance studio, LuShar's, when Luanah was 16 years old. They taught ballet, tap, jazz, and baton twirling, among other styles. She also played Cello in the Oklahoma junior symphony. Luanah retired from dancing to be a loving wife to John for 39 years (until his death), and to raise her sons, Paul and Grant. She loved to mow the lawn, work in her flower garden, and be with family which included her dogs. Luanah was known as "mom" to many of Paul's and Grant's friends.Luanah was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, Danny and Bobby; brother-in-law, Mike; and too many dogs to name. She is survived by sons, Paul and Grant and wife Terri; grandson, Jacob and wife Danielle; granddaughters, Brittany, Katherine, and Alexandria; great grandsons, Landon, Jordan, Mikey, and Wyatt; a sister, Sharon; sister-in-law, Rita; and her dog Riley.A memorial service to celebrate Luanah's life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel.
