Luella Oakley

LuElla Emilie Schroeder Oakley went to be with the Lord on Jan. 19, 2016. LuElla was born Sept.18, 1916 on the family farm outside Okarche, OK to William (Bill) and Anna Schroeder. She was baptized, confirmed, and married in St John's Lutheran Church in Okarche, OK. She graduated from Hills Business School then went to work at Tinker Air Force Base and Braniff Airlines until she married Paul Oakley on Thanksgiving Day 1952. LuElla and Paul moved to Albuquerque, NM where she worked for E.F. Hutton. She lived in Albuquerque for 50 years where she was a lifetime member of The General Federation of Women's Clubs and Beta Sigma Phi. She loved to travel, visiting 49 of the 50 states, the Caribbean, Canada, Mexico, South America & Europe. LuElla was preceded in death by her husband Paul; parents, William & Anna Schroeder; brothers, Paul, Ed, Richard, Oscar and sisters; Lois Minders and Clara Jacobs. LuElla is survived by many nieces, nephews & friends. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice, especially Becky Jacks who helped Lue tremendously for the year she was on Hospice. Thank you also to the caregivers and staff and St Ann's Nursing Home. You were a blessing to LuElla. A celebration of LuElla's life will be held at 10 AM Sat. Jan 23, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7700 W Britton Rd. Oklahoma City, OK.
