Luminita "Nita" Craytor

Luminita "Nita" Cosma Craytor, 55 of Texarkana, Texas, departed this life on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in The Woodlands, Texas, with her family by her side. Nita began her professional career at Will Rogers Bank and then became National Operations Manager for the Law Offices of Gerald Shapiro in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After moving to Texarkana, she worked for Capital One as a Trust Officer later joining Bank of the Ozarks as Vice President and Trust Officer. Nita was a graduate of the Southern Trust School, Mobile, Alabama, and a recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Alumni and Faculty award from Texas A&M-Texarkana. Having made Texarkana her home, she was active in the community having served on the boards of several organizations, including the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties, the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra, Randy Sams Outreach Shelter, Volunteer Center, United Way of Greater Texarkana, and the YWCA. She was a member of the Wilber Smith Rotary Club, Women for the Arts, Women for Texas A&M University-Texarkana, and Christus St. Michael Friends of the Foundation. She also participated twice as an amateur artist for Party with the Picasso. Nita is survived by her sister, Tina Cates, and husband, Kelvin Cates of The Woodlands, Texas; brother, Virgil Cosma and wife, Kellie Cosma of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; niece, Alexandria "Allie" Cosma of Texarkana, Texas; nephew, Nicholas Cosma of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; nephew, Collin Craytor, and nephew, Carson Craytor both of Texarkana, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ana and Virgil Cosma. Nita was a wonderful loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Services will be under the direction of Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held, Friday, June 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 417 Olive Street, Texarkana, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the "Nita Cosma Craytor Scholarship Fund" that has been established at Texas A&M University-Texarkana, 7101 University Avenue, Texarkana, Texas 75503.
