Luther Durwood Marsden passed away Sunday morning, June 19 at the age of 90 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was born in Vernon, Texas on April 26, 1926 to James Luther and Lois V. Marsden. Luther joined the US Navy at age 17 in 1944 and served as a Fireman First Class during the remainder of Second World War. He then worked at Tinker Air Force Base and the Federal Aviation Administration until his retirement in 1984. He met his wife, Norma Junelle Owrey while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. They were married in 1948 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They spent almost every day together for 67 years. They resided in the Oklahoma City area during their entire marriage and for the past three years, shared a room at the Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center. They had three children, James L. Marsden (wife Ruth), Peggy L. Wimberley and Nancy L. Cure. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Marsden, his sister Mickie Brundage, his daughter and son in law, Nancy and Michael Cure. He is survived by his wife Junelle and children James L. Marsden and Peggy Wimberley. Luther had seven grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Marsden, James P. Marsden, Robert E. Marsden, Jennifer M. Marsden, Elizabeth J. Marsden, Justin M. Cure (wife Sydney) and Steven W. Wimberley. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, Jack H. Marsden, Mary J. Marsden, Luca W. Marsden and Cora L. Cure. His was devoted to his wife and family and spent his life caring for them. All who knew him benefited from his affection, patience and generosity.
