Lynn Albertson Cohenour

Lynn Albertson Cohenour was born on September 25, 1923 at St. Anthony's Hospital to Louis LeClaire Alberston and Kathryn Sims Albertson. She died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, surrounded by family. Lynn grew up an only child in Oklahoma City and went away to the University of Arkansas for her first semester of college. She returned home when World War II broke out and completed her education at the University of Oklahoma. She married Marion Kent Cohenour on May 7, 1946 at Crown Heights Methodist Church, almost one year to the day after the war ended. They were married 57 years before his death in 2004; she recently referred to him as "the best thing that ever happened to" her. Now they are happily together again. Lynn and Marion had two children, Kent and Kay. They, and the rest of her family, were the lights of her life. She was truly the matriarch of her family, and her presence will always be felt. In her final days, she remained the essence of who she always was: independent, spunky, kind, witty, and filled with light. She lived an incredibly full 90 years of life: she and her husband traveled the globe, were lovers of golf and art, and made countless family memories at their second home for decades in Palm Springs, California, near their beloved La Quinta Hotel. Lynn's family would like to thank her inspiring team of caretakers these past weeks and months, especially Darlene, Trina, Cynthia, Jasmine, Roberta, and Lynette. They are a reminder that angels live among us if you are just willing to look. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Kent and Patty Cohenour, and Kay and Mike Seymour; grandchildren Caroline Cohenour, Christopher Cohenour (and Reistle), Natalie Seymour Tishkowski (and Greg), and Michael Seymour (and Kim); and great-grandchildren John Thomas Seymour, Lucas Tishkowski, Jaicks Cohenour, Kaitlyn Tishkowki, and Sophie Seymour. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 11 from 5-7 PM at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May. A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, April 12, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or Laura Lynn's Home Care.
