(Marvin) Alan Maynard was born in Eastland, Texas on September 16, 1961 to Marvin and Betty Maynard. Alan was the middle child of three. He passed away quietly on August 19, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the loving arms of his partner to twenty-one years, Dan Lucas. Surviving are his mother, Betty; a brother, Jimmy Maynard and sister-in-law, Michelle and nephews, Dylan and Jonah, all of Denton, Texas; a sister, Debra Slaton and brother-in-law, Buddy of Eastland, Texas.
After graduation from Eastland High School, Alan worked several jobs until enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in North Korea. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Huntsville, Alabama and lived there fourteen years before transferring with Wal-Mart to Oklahoma City with his partner, Dan where he continued working until his passing.
Alan received numerous awards while serving in the Army and several for his good work and work ethic while employed with Wal-Mart.
Alan loved to travel in the U.S.A., Italy, and Greece. He traveled with his partner, his mother, brother and family. When he wasn't working, he was dedicated to his family and his love of animals including four cocker spaniels.
