Marjorie Delaney, 86, of Oklahoma City, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughters.
Born on January 11, 1939, in Grapeland, Texas, Marjorie was a compassionate and determined woman who embraced new challenges with courage and grace. This is evidenced by her brave decision to change careers at age 59 and enrolled into the nursing program. She received her RN license and joined the team at Bone & Joint Hospital, where she retired at age 78. She remained unwavering in her devotion to her family and community. She had a deep love for OU sports, especially OU football, and was a lifelong fan of Coach Barry Switzer. Beyond her passion for sports, Marjorie had a profound love for dogs, especially Doberman Pinschers. She dedicated her time and resources to supporting the dog community, always eager to help and advocate for animals in need.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Zelda Fox. Marjorie is survived by her daughters, Tracey Hughes and her husband Tim Hughes of Oklahoma City, and Tara Delaney and her husband Patrick Feighny of Oklahoma City, her honorary daughter, Liz Blanchard of Norman, Oklahoma and a son, Ronald Butler. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Alexandra (Allie) Griffith, Delaney (Laney) and Sean Martin, both of Oklahoma City; Riley Hughes of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Candice and Corey Lane of Houston, Texas, and Bailey and Joel Wilson of Norman, Oklahoma. Marjorie also leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren: Dylan and Devyn Griffith, Ivy May and Graham Martin, Adam and Gwynnie Lane, and Jack Wilson.
Marjorie’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and generosity. Her family and friends will forever cherish her wisdom, warmth, and unwavering support.
