Margaret (Peg) Dorothy Morrissey, 93, died Monday, March 4th at her home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Peg was born in Hancock, Michigan on September 2, 1925. Her family moved to Waukegan, Illinois after her father retired from the U.S. Navy.
On December 14, 1946, Peg married Joseph Vincent (Vin) Morrissey at Christ Episcopal Church in Waukegan, Illinois.
Peg graduated from National College of Education and taught elementary school in the Waukegan Public Schools for 7 years. She then became the Director of Reading and Language Arts for the Waukegan school system. During that time she earned her Masters Degree in Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study from National College of Education where she also taught for several years.
Following retirement, Peg and Vin moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia where they remained for more than 20 years. They loved to sail, bike and travel with trips to Europe each year.
They later moved to Fleming Island, Florida. Following the death of her beloved husband in 2003, Peg moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where she remained until just prior to Hurricane Katrina. Shortly thereafter, she relocated to Edmond, Oklahoma, where she lived for the past 13 ½ years.
Peg was an avid reader and was actively involved as a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where she served as Senior Warden and Director of Christian Education.
Peg will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Terri of Evanston, Illinois, and her son Tim and his wife Ginger of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sisters, Jean Pearson and Mary Alotti.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 1000 North Broadway in Edmond, Oklahoma.
