Margaret Phillips Manning

We said goodbye for now to our beloved Mother on May 24, 2012. Margaret was born to Florence and Boyd Phillips on Aug. 21, 1928 in OKC, where she lived her entire life. Margaret married Don Manning on Feb. 14, 1953 and he preceded her in death in November of 2009. She is survived by 2 daughters, Dawna Wood, OKC, and Marta Motley (William Barrett), OKC; 4 granddaughters, Heather, Deidra, Cori, and Madison; and 4 great grandchildren, Xavier, Jaycee, Hunter, and Delaney. In addition to her family, she was surrounded by a host of friends and neighbors, including her best friend JoAnn Leuszler. Margaret continued to be involved in many groups, especially Lovely Ladies, Yoga, Pilates, Jazzercize and First Christian Church, until she became ill in 2009. Margaret was cared for in her own home by Dawna and Heather, and then at Marta's home for almost 2 years with the expertise and loving care of Kelly Parker who also cared for Don until his death. The family wishes to thank, Randi Cloud and Donna Lee, Dr. Shales Atkinson, Dr. Aleda Toma, her nurse Vicki, and Connie Fizer. Margaret possessed such a strong spirit and drive and was one of the most caring and generous people you could ever have the honor to meet. Please join us as we celebrate our Mother's life with a memorial service and reception on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Smith & Kernke. Donations may be made to Hospice of OK County.
