Marilynn Alene McAfee passed away Nov. 24, 2015 in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 2, 1938 in Rush Springs, OK, the daughter of Earl and Fayrene Faulkner. She grew up there and graduated from Rush Springs High School. Marilynn attended Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1959 with a BS degree in Fashion & Merchandising. During her time at OSU, she was a resident of Willard Hall where she was part of the "WOW" group (Women of Willard) and developed lifetime friendships that were so important to her. She worked all four years in the campus bookstore where she met Ronald McAfee. Marilynn and Ronald were married on July 18, 1959 and she became the proud and busy mother of two boys. They lived in the Bethany area for many years where their sons attended the Putnam City schools. In addition to providing a loving home life for her family, many dinners were prepared and parties hosted for her extended family as well as their many friends. She enjoyed the beauty of nature and spent many hours gardening and tending her beautiful flowers. She was also an exceptional seamstress, designing and tailoring many clothes for her family. Marilynn was a long-time member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, serving in the nursery and as a greeter and always being available to bake cookies when asked. Additionally, she was in several volunteer organizations where she enjoyed spending her time helping others. Marilynn had a large circle of friends which included playing in two separate bridge clubs, becoming an accomplished tennis player as part of the "405's", a group of ladies that played tennis together for many years and also enjoyed traveling with many of them. She was an avid OSU fan and attended all home football and basketball games and went to the Big 12 Basketball Tournament each year with three other couples. Marilynn lived a full life, loving and sharing with her family and being a wonderful and lasting friend to so many around her. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned parents and her brother, Larry Faulkner. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 56 years, Ron; two sons, Mark and Greg; four grandchildren, Madison McAfee, Malorie Summers, Sarah Day and Audrey Hunter; three great grandchildren, Bronson and Everly Hunter, and Zackary Day; three sisters, Anita Worden, Helen James and Kay Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Smith & Kernke, 14624 N. May from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov 29th. The funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7201 W. Britton Road. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 N.
