Marion Joan Mcfarland

Marion Joan McFarland passed away April 15, 2017, at the age of 93 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Joan was born April 1, 1924, in Oklahoma City to T.M. Miller and Carrie Agnes (Morris) Miller. She graduated from Classen High School and from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. After college Joan taught school in Norman, Oklahoma, and afterward was a legal secretary for Pan American Oil Company in Oklahoma City. Joan married Robert Edward McFarland in 1960. She was active in the Oklahoma City Junior Ready to Help Club, and the Oklahoma City Orchestra League for many years. Joan was preceded in death by her husband and parents, and brothers Morris Miller and Thomas Miller. Joan is survived by sons Mark Edward McFarland and Sean Robert McFarland, nieces Mary Britton, Martha Goetz and Megan Conine, and nephews Michael McFarland and Matthew McFarland. Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, April 21, 2017, 1:00 o'clock , p.m., at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1901 NW 18th Street, Oklahoma City. Also, friends who wish to pay their respects may call at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home, 1401 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, on Thursday, April 20, between 10:00 o'clock, a.m. and 6:00 o'clock, p.m. Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City.
