Marjorie B. Tolle-Clements, who was oft described as elegant, sophisticated, fashionable, intelligent, austere, formal, and business-like, made her transition from this life on September 26, 2015. She was 92. Marjorie "Bocky" Burley Tolle-Clements was born in New Orleans on August 28, 1923, to Ovid Hansel Burley, gas station mechanic, and the former Clara Hoy, a school teacher. Having been double promoted in "grade school," Marjorie graduated Fair Park High School at the age of 16; her continuing education included attending college and graduating from business school. She became smitten with Oklahoma City as soon as she arrived to take a job with the Kerr-McGee Corporation in 1942. After spending over 40+ years as the executive secretary to several different Vice Presidents for Safeway, Inc., she finally retired. Marjorie served as president of the local chapters of Executive Women International and The Criterion Book Club. She was a member of many bridge clubs, the Oklahoma City Country Club, and The Beacon Club, among others. The charities Marjorie was involved with, and contributed to, were multitudinous. They included The Salvation Army, Covenant House, Carpenter's Square Theatre, the American Cancer Society, and the Wounded Warrior Project. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Clements; her brother Billy Burley; her sister Betty Burley Burnett and brother-in-law Theodore B. Burnett, Sr.; her sister Dorothy Burley Ritch and brother-in-law William H. Ritch. She is survived by her sister-in-law Sammy L. Burley of Denton, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews throughout Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas. A memorial service celebrating the life of Marjorie Nell Burley Tolle-Clements will be held at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Officiating the service will be the Reverend Suellen Miller, Senior Minister of the Tulsa Center for Spiritual Living.
