Mark Edward Patterson joined his Heavenly Father August 3, 2018. He was born September 19, 1956 in Norman, OK to Don and Sherry Patterson. Mark attended high school in Alexandria, VA and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He was the Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development at Oklahoma Blood Institute, his employer for the past 19 years. Mark was very proud to be affiliated with OBI, strongly believed in the organization's mission and had given 100 blood donations. Mark's spirit of community and generous nature guided OBI in its collaborations with the OKC Festival of the Arts, Global Blood Fund, OK Mothers' Milk Bank, and other charity partners. Well respected in the Oklahoma City community, Mark was a graduate of Leadership Oklahoma City and a long-term board member and chair of Oklahoma City Beautiful. He also served as an officer of the Board of Directors for BCx, a national blood center insurance provider. Mark loved traveling, movies, sports, and had been an OU football season ticket holder for many years. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends at every opportunity and cherished the special comradery they shared. He had a quick, dry wit and was naturally funny. Mark was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed beyond description. He is survived by his wife, Marta; mother, Sherry Patterson; daughter, Kasalynne Wheeler and husband, Dillan; grandson, DJ; and other relatives and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Don Patterson; and sister, Dawna Patterson. The family would like to thank OBI and Church of the Servant for their kind support during Mark's courageous battle with glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) and also Dr. Battiste and the OU Medical Center staff for the loving care provided to Mark.
