Mark Joseph Medley passed away October 13, 2018, after a lengthy illness. He was born September 16, 1953, in Oklahoma City where he has lived all his life. He attended St. Eugene's grade school and graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School with the Class of 1971. He then attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1975. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity (Fiji) and served as rush chairman and in other offices. After graduation, he spent a year in Vail, Colorado, skiing and working at Gorsuch as a ski technician. He returned to Oklahoma City in 1976 to be associated with Medley Material Handling Company founded by his grandparents, Joe and Fran Medley. He later succeeded his father, Bill Medley, as president. Under his leadership, the company expanded to be one of the largest material handling distributors in the southwest United States. The company was recognized for dealer excellence as a Hyster Yale Award winner many times. His successes were aided by his membership in Currie Management Consultants and his group of twenty. Now a fourth generation company with his son, Joseph Ryan Medley, succeeding as vice president. He was a member of Christ the King parish. Additional memberships include the OKC Ski Club, Men's Dinner Club, Rotary Club 29 and the Bachelor Club. He was very active and a contributor in local arts programs and in 2018, received the Governor's Art Award at the State Capital and he was also a benefactor of many charities. He maintained a home on Gore Creek in Vail, Colorado and enjoyed skiing on Vail Mountain with his family and friends. He traveled the world but loved most jet skiing and family fun at Lake Tenkiller here in Oklahoma. He also enjoyed many escapades at Burning Man in Nevada. He was an avid OU football fan, enjoyed daily workouts, attending the Oklahoma State Fair, and Monthly poker nights with his lifelong buddies. Sunday Funday with his family and special times with grandsons, Mack and Mayes were his favorite. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph W. and Frances Medley and Paul and Thelma Fennessey. Mark is survived by his wife, Mari Cook Medley; children, Joseph Ryan and Shannon Medley, Marysa Elizabeth and Robert Lunsford, Sarah Kaitlyn Medley and companion Chris Hartman, and Tanner Jeffers; grandchildren, Mack Joseph and Mayes Jameson Medley; parents, William Joseph and Jackie Medley; sisters, Melinda Medley, Mary Dyer and Michelle Medley; nephew, Cole Christopher Dyer; the mother of his children, Nora Rapp Medley; and Companions KoKo and Olive. He is also survived by extended family, Mari's mother Betty Holleman Cook, Jerry Dyer, Walter Lair, the Fennessey family, Kunc family, Killeen family, Ragsdale family and Glahn family. In addition, Mark will be missed by many other family members and dear close friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with entombment at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery followed by a reception at Quail Creek Country Club.
