Mary Frances Smith

Mary Frances Smith, age 97, passed away August 17, 2018. She was born March 23, 1921 in Oklahoma City to Walter and Helen (Mollman) Sloan. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Following school, Mary proudly served our country in the USO during WWII. She later earned certification to become a medical assistant. Service to others was of paramount importance throughout her life. Mary was a charter resident of St. Ann's retirement center in 2002, and has enjoyed having her home with the other residents there for the last 16 years. She loved researching genealogy and preserving that history. Mary's love for her family was her greatest joy. She will be remembered for her generous heart, caring spirit and as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and compassionate friend. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy B. Smith; son, Steven Smith; daughter, Martha Ruth; a granddaughter, Julie Ann Smith; two brothers and two sisters. Mary is survived by her son, William K. Smith and his wife Susan; daughter, Frances Savely and her husband Gary; and daughter, Jeanne Kendrick; grandchildren, William K. Smith Jr. and wife Lacey, Valerie and Derek Smith, Gabe Savely and wife Rebecca, Matt Savely, Annie Barnes, Joe Kendrick and wife Jill; great-grandchildren, Cory and Grace Barnes, Sarah and Shelby Savely, Trey, Brody and Griffin Smith, Chris and Carter Kendrick, Nicolas Nolen and Madison McEwin as well as numerous extended family. Contributions may be made to benefit Discalced Carmelite Nuns through the Carmelite Monastery of Piedmont, 2370 Morgan Road, Piedmont, OK 73078. Mary's family will be present to greet friends during visitation at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5pm to 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at the St. Joachim Chapel of St. Ann's Retirement Center with burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
