Mary Josephine Hudson

Mary Josephine “Jo” Hudson, lifelong Oklahoma City resident, passed away March 20, 2024. She was born November 24, 1931, in Oklahoma City, the daughter of Anton and Magdalen “Maggie” Rupert. She attended Rosary Catholic School through 9th grade. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High school (downtown) in 1949. She worked as a secretary for the State Military Department for Army & Air National Guard. At a party at Tinker Field Club, she met a charming soldier, Palmer Hudson. They later married at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Oklahoma City in 1955. They were stationed at many different places together while her husband was in service, including Japan.

They had three children and Mary stayed home with the kids until they were in high school. At that time, she went to work for Sears and Roebuck. Mary later went back to serving as a secretary for Cummins Allison for many years before retiring. She was very sociable, thus enjoyed working outside the home. She also enjoyed gardening and reading and loved animals.

She is survived by her three children, Mark Hudson (Sandy), John Hudson (Lacresa) and Jane Hudson (Scot Ruf); six grandchildren, Aaron Hudson, Lucas Hudson, Katelin Hudson, Matthew Hudson, Allison Shepherd and Daniel Ruf; three great grandchildren, Michael Shepherd, David Dail and Adeline Mitchell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Stanley Rupert.
