Mary Irene Shepard

Mary Irene Shepard, 91, was called to her heavenly home August 14, 2015. She was born to Bill and Viola Haxel in Norman, OK. Irene was best known for her fun spirit and her pure joy when shopping at Quail Springs Mall (Queen Bling) never passed up a special at Icings! She loved a round of bridge with her girlfriends and OU football. She attended all home games until she was 85 yrs. and always had some sound advice for Switzer & Stoops! Irene enjoyed Haxel reunions, camping and skiing at Lake Texoma with her husband Frank. Irene and Frank started a senior's afternoon program (Friday Frolics) at Crown Heights Christian Church where they played board games & bridge. Later, they became members of Crossings Community Church. She was a member of PEO, Oklahoma Art League & Oklahoma Hospitality. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, brothers Dwain Haxel & Fred Haxel. Her survivors are Karen Stallings (Daryl) Curtis Shepard (Debbie) grandchildren Keli Segell (Jeff) Staci Oakes (Jeff) Greg Shepard (Jessica) Grant Shepard (Hillary) great grandchildren Carly, Alex, Zach & Hannah Segell, Hank & Everly Oakes, August, Teddy & Brinkley Shepard. Special thanks to Roxanna, with Good Shepherd Hospice, for her loving care for Irene and family. Memorial services 11 a.m, Thursday, Crossings Community Church.
