Maxwell James Hollman

Max Hollman, 30, passed away in his sleep Saturday morning, March 22, 2014 at his home in Marietta, Ohio. His funeral will be noon Saturday, March 29, at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3214 N. Lake, Oklahoma City, followed by a gathering in the parish hall. Visitation will be Friday, March 28, from noon to 8 p.m. at Smith & Kernke, 1401 N.W. 23rd Street, Oklahoma City. The family will be in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m. for friends who would like to come and share memories about Max. Born August 7, 1983 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, Max attended Villa Teresa School through fourth grade and Bishop John Carroll School through eighth. He was a graduate of Bishop McGuinness High School and the University of Oklahoma where he earned degrees in geology and petroleum geology. He worked for Turner Oil & Gas of Oklahoma City and at the time of his death was based in Marietta. Max loved sports, especially basketball, soccer and football. A varsity letterman in soccer for the Bishop McGuinness Fighting Irish, Oklahoma State Runners-up 2001, he also played club soccer for Spirit FC '83 and Parma FC '84. His favorite pro soccer team was FC Barcelona, and in 2012 he made a pilgrimage to its famed stadium, Camp Nou, in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. When Oklahoma City welcomed its own pro basketball team in 2008, no one was happier than Max; the Oklahoma City Thunder soon found a place alongside the Chicago Bulls as his all time favorite teams. Max loved listening to music and took his fantasy football very seriously. He also enjoyed helping with the good works of Turner in Ohio. His kind and gentle heart made him a brother to many. Since his move to Ohio, Max had also taken up golf. We know his last day was a good one because he spent it golfing and grilling dinner with his friends and coworkers. Max is survived by his beloved dog, Neko. Survived by his parents, Jeanne Devlin of Oklahoma City and Thomas and Susan Hollman of Stillwater; brothers, Michael and Nick; grandparents, Mamie and Paul Devlin; aunts, Bonnie Campis and Becky Mays (Uncle Marlon); uncles, Mark Hollman, Jim Hollman and Matt Devlin (Aunt Erin); cousins, Gabe and Maggie Campis, Lauren Mays, Simon, Isaac, Avari and Sophia Devlin, and Bowe Daniels. Max is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Meg and Ed Hollman and his great uncle Jim Healy (Aunt Phil). Pallbearers are Drew Allen, Austin Carson, Matt Edwards, Anthony Holloway, Brian Lowry, Rob Lunsford, Will Rowntree, and Oliver Tobin; Ben Thomas to do the reading.
