Merle Freeman

Merle Dale Freeman was born in Buffalo, Oklahoma on February 25, 1921 to Aurther and Cora Freeman. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1939 and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1940-1943. He worked for General Electric Company in Oklahoma City from 1943-1954 and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration from 1954-1982 when he retired. Merle married Margelene Casey on November 22, 1946. They had four children Troy, JoAnn, Gene and Bruce. Margelene preceded him in death and in 1995, Merle married Eunice Brooks and acquired second family of Paul, Bruce and LeJune who are Eunice's children. He loved music, especially religious music and knew all the words to most any song he heard. He also loved the Lord. In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his son Bruce, his parents, brothers Marvin, Carl, Thad and his twin sister Marcile. Merle is survived by his wife Eunice, children Troy Freeman of OKC, Jo Ann Beaver of Sierra Vista, AZ, Gene Freeman of OKC, Paul Barber, Bruce Brooks and LaJune Ellis. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. He was a beloved person and will be missed by all. Friends may pay their respects at Smith & Kernke N. May on Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. Funeral service will be Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Quail Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery.
