MERLIN BURNETTE
Merlin Burnette, 77, died May 22, 2014, in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born in Pawnee, OK, the son of Carl and Eleanor Burnette. He graduated from high school in Burden, KS, and from Cowley County College in Ark City, KS. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Phi Tau Sigma Honorary Society. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Merlin served as Scout Master for Troop 192 and enjoyed woodworking, camping, hunting and reading. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Colin Burnette. He is survived by his wife, Vesta; son Jeffrey and wife Jamie and their children, Jackson and Clementine; son, Ryan; sisters-in-law, Judy Burnette and Marjorie Ralston; nephews, Justin and Matthew Burnette and Steven Ralston; and numerous cousins and their families. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 30 at Northwest Christian Church. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Newkirk Cemetery, Newkirk, OK.
