Michael Sam Homsey, II, wonderful husband to Dini and amazing father to Zeina and Sami, fell asleep in the Lord on November 12, 2024 after a courageous 6 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Born May 28, 1982 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he lived a life full of joy, laughter, and loved ones.
Best known for his uncanny imitations and humorous storytelling, Sam loved God, his large Lebanese family, his circles of friends, a great round of golf, bi-yearly trips to the farm, gin tournaments, the Kansas City Chiefs, and movie nights with his wife and children. He is a graduate of Putnam City North High School, where he met and has kept a strong group of friends since elementary school, the University of Oklahoma – Price College of Business with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management, and the University of Central Oklahoma with a Masters in Business Administration in May 2024.
A lifelong member of St. Elijah Orthodox Christian Church, he has been the Co-Chair of the Annual Bake Sale for several years and served on the Parish Council Board. It was the Church that brought him the love of his life, Dr. Dini Massad Homsey. Friends through church youth group, they dated since high school and were married June 9, 2007.
Sam’s career in logistics, operations, and management at Crest Foods and la Baguette spanned over 20 years and brought him many friendships and opportunities to joyfully serve others.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam R. and Margaret Homsey and Nick and Cherry Harroz, and his father-in-law, Dr. Paul E. Massad.
He is survived by his love and wife, Dini, and his daughter Zeina and son Sami. He is also survived by his parents Mickey and Sydney Homsey, sisters Valerie and husband Fr. John Salem and Meagan Homsey. And he is survived by his mother-in-law Nena Massad and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Malek and Damiana Massad, Marc and Kristen Massad, and Michael and Molly Massad. And he leaves behind his loving nieces and nephews, his many uncles and aunts, his cousins, and a host of friends.
Loved by all since his childhood, Sam brought love, life, and laughter to everyone he met and to everything he did. In his own words in a post he put on LinkedIn this year, Sam says:
“In May of this year, I walked across a stage at the University of Central Oklahoma with my MBA after not being in school for almost 20 years. I started in January of 2022 and took the slow route. If it wasn’t for my wife, Dini, I wouldn’t have even put my application in much less showed up to the first class. In January 2022, I was over two years free from pancreatic pancer. Since January 2022, I have heard two times from my oncologist that my cancer has come back. I had another major surgery and over 20 rounds of chemotherapy while working through this program. I’m not posting this to get recognition. I’m posting this to remind people that life can be hard; but by prayer and what you put your mind to, you can overcome anything that life throws your way. When work gets hard, remember it’s a privilege. When trying to keep up with obligations to your kids and family, remember it’s a privilege. When you roll out of bed in the morning and would rather sleep in, but you still got out of bed, remember it’s a privilege. Life is short; take nothing for granted because you never know – fortunate things can always be taken away. Best Regards, Sam”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to two of Sam’s favorite charities: Camp St. Raphael campstraphael.org or Casady School at casady.org in his memory.
