Phillip Michael "Mike" Murphy, 73, of Oklahoma City, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 16, 2023. He was born in Clinton, OK on July 29, 1949 to Pat Murphy and Opal I. Todd. He grew up in Oklahoma and part of his young childhood was spent in the Seattle area. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City. Then went to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a bachelor's degree in marketing.Mike started his career with Sweetheart Cup Company in 1975 which began a lifelong service to sales in the foodservice packaging industry. His entrepreneur spirit came to fruition when he started Creative Container in 1987. With his wife, Debbie, they grew the business for 32 years until they sold it and began retirement in 2019.In 1986, Mike met Debbie at a kid's birthday party. They married nine years later on May 13, 1995. He worked hard to make sure she was taken care of and felt loved every day.Mike could be found among his many hobbies including motorcycles, photography and of course his family. He spent many trips on his Harley Davidson motorcycle visiting 49 states. He was a very caring husband, son, grandfather, cousin and friend. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Pat Toga Murphy and Opal T. Smith and step-dad Lawrence Fred Smith, aunt and uncle Dorothy and Harold Salyer. He is survived by his loving wife Debbie Murphy of OKC, his son, Michael Todd Murphy of Norman, step-son, Nicholas Harroz III, his wife Susan and their son Ford of OKC, special cousins Susie Akland of St. Peter, MN and Mitch Salyer of Grove, OK and half-brothers Tim Murphy of Amarillo, TX and Craig Murphy of Cleveland, OK; cousins Kim Green of Blanchard, OK and Jon Brown of Chickasha, OK and many loving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.The family would like to thank their devoted Sunday school class and many friends and family for their support.Viewing will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Smith & Kernke. Memorial services for Mike will be at 2:00 P.M.
