Mittie R. Nickles

Mittie (Reece) Nickles was born December 21st 1920, in Snyder Oklahoma to parents Edward Garfield Reece and Liza (Norman) Reece. Mittie passed away on Saturday February 2, 2019 at the age of 98. Mittie attended both the Tipton and Weaver schools and Oklahoma A&M College, Stillwater, where she majored in commerce. After receiving her degree, she entered the employment of the Internal Revenue Department, serving in both the Oklahoma City and Muskogee locations. Mittie was a very independent woman with a mind of her own and yet a heart for others. She was a frugal saver and a savvy investor. Although she made wise investments in life, it pales in comparison to the investment she will make in the lives of students, and the long-lasting impact it will have for generations to come. Much of her estate is to be donated to several state colleges, churches and the Oklahoma Community Foundation. Her desire was to fund scholarships for students from small Oklahoma towns who wish to enter the field of accounting. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sally Reece Hope (Oklahoma City) and husband Farrell Hope; sister, Esther Reece Rogers (Bakersfield, CA) and husband Chester Rogers; brothers, Ray Reece and wife Marie, and his twin brother Raymond Reece; nephews, Michael Wayne Rogers (son Michael) and Jacky Ray Rogers (son Jack and daughter Rachelle). She is survived by nephews, Edward Rogers and wife Kathryn of Pismo Beach, CA, Steven E. Rogers and wife Randye of Bakersfield, CA, Carol Ann Whitt and husband Aaron of Bowie, MD (children of Edward); Robert Hope and wife Gayle of Edmond, OK; Tommy Reece of Tipton, OK; Michael Dewayne Rogers; Jack Rogers and Daughter Rachelle Poole (children of Jacky). A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 6th, 2 p.m., at the Frederick Memorial Cemetery.
