Leonard O'Neil McKenna passed away Sunday afternoon, July 9th, 2017, at his home in Oklahoma City with his loving family by his side. He was born November 15, 1934, in Oklahoma City to Louis and Mabel McKenna. He married his loving wife Carole in 1956; they were together for 60 years. They enjoyed traveling to the mountains with their camper, snow skiing, and spending time with their grandchildren. He was an avid golfer, softball player, and sports fan. Neil served active duty as a U.S. Army soldier in Germany from 1956-1958. It was during this time their first child, Mark was born in Germany. Neil was an active member of Christ the King parish for 57 years. While his children were students at Christ the King school, he served as athletic director as well as a dedicated girls' basketball and softball coach. Neil was preceded in death by his son, David, granddaughter, Erin and sister, Carol Henry. He is survived by his loving family, including wife, Carole; his sister and her husband, Linda and Donald Baustert of Edmond; son, Mark McKenna of Oak Park, IL; daughter and her husband, Debbie and Barney Hines of Edmond; daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Mark Williamson of Oklahoma City; daughter and her husband, Diane and Keith Dockery of Broken Arrow; daughter-in-law, Tracy McKenna of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Evening Prayer Service will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 7 pm Wednesday, July 12. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 13 at 9:30 am at the Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Christ the King Catholic School or OMRF for cancer research.
