Nicholas Albin Fortune was hatched on a flat rock in Foraker, Oklahoma on January 27, 1912, born to Mamie Fortune and the middle child of seven brothers and sisters. He was also the much beloved adopted son of Amelia Girard and grandson of Pop and Dada Girard. God showed him the way to go home on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 and is survived by his sister, Amelia, daughter, Deborah Fortune, his grandchild, Daria Fortune and his great-grandson Nicholas Fortune of Oklahoma City, nieces Markie Orf and Melodie Osburn and many other nephews, nieces and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Glo Dale Elizabeth Fortune, on August 6, 2006. Nick reluctantly served the US Army in World War II, but it gave him wonderful stories to tell. He loved his work in the oil industry as a salesman for both Continental and Wilson oil supply and shared many fond memories with his family. He had a rich and fulfilling life, close to his family and doting on his great-grandson, and was a brilliant, playful and charming storyteller, who's favorite response to any question posed was "If you're sure you don't know, I'll tell ya!" Nick loved to work in his wood shop and was a true master of repair, able to fix anything, sometimes if it wasn't even broken. Funeral Services will be held at St. Eugene's Catholic Church at 2400 W. Hefner Road, Friday September 20, 2013 with grave site service to follow. We love you Pop, keep on singing your song.
