Nila was born in Batesville, Arkansas on June 27, 1921 and grew up on a farm near Foss, Oklahoma. She passed from this life May 5, 2018. She graduated from Stafford High School in Oklahoma in 1939 and then graduated from Business School at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She next started her career with the Federal Government Service and retired from Housing and Urban Development in 1980. Nila married Jewette L. Browning on May 15, 1948. They made a home in Oklahoma City and raised their daughter Diana and son David. Nila and Jewette were married 48 and a half years before he passed away in 1997. They enjoyed travelling and spending time with family in their retirement. Nila started oil painting during her retirement years and completed many nice paintings. She enjoyed watching Thunder basketball, Rangers baseball and OU sports. She also enjoyed TV game shows and watching the golf course from her patio. She was a long time member of Grace United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Nila was active in PTA and was a Cub Scout leader and active in all of her children's activities. She was a devoted, deeply caring mother, the best anyone could ever have. Nila was preceded in death by her parents, Ray Dew and Reedie (Meek) Dew, her husband Jewette and her brothers Charles Dew and Ralph Christian. She is survived by her son David Browning and daughter Diana Thomas and husband David Thomas, grandson Daniel Thomas and wife Sadie Thomas, great granddaughter Lila Thomas and many other family members and friends. Nila's family would like to thank her family, friends and neighbors for their love and support. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11th from 9am-4pm at Smith & Kernke Funeral Home (1401 NW 23rd Street, OKC, OK). Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 12th at Grace United Methodist Church (6316 N. Tulsa Ave., OKC, OK) with burial to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
