Nina Gaugler, passed from this life on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born May 21, 1928 in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, to Lewis and Hazel Patterson. She attended Beaver Falls High School where she met Gene Gaugler. Gene's brother, Richard "Dick" Gaugler returned from serving in the 94th Infantry of the U.S. Army after WWII and Nina was captivated by his ambition and desire to leave Beaver Falls. When Dick finished his college education they were married on October 25, 1950. They moved to Greenwich Village, New York, where Nina described their first apartment as similar to Robert Redford and Jane Fonda's in the movie, Barefoot in the Park. In 1952 Dick found a new job in Pittsburgh where their first two children, Lynne Ann and Richard James were born. In 1959 Dick was transferred to Cleveland, Ohio where their third child, Diane Lee was born. The family moved one last time to Oklahoma City in 1966 where they remained.
As the quintessential corporate wife, Nina was always good with names, ready for entertaining, and truly enjoyed people. She appreciated her many friendships in Oklahoma City and beyond. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon. For 50 plus years, Nina was a member of The Pen and Quill Book Club and Sewing Club, and was an active member of PEO for the last 24 years. She enjoyed the 18-hole golf association at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club for many years until an unfortunate fall broke her shoulder in seven places thus ending her golf game.
Nina enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and cherished her winters spent in La Quinta, California, for over 35 years, with friends from Oklahoma, California and other states. She always enjoyed watching a variety of sports including golf, the Pittsburgh Steelers, OU and OSU football, and especially the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, parents, sister Laine Patterson Ryder and brother James Patterson. She is survived by daughter, Lynne Henneke; son, Richard and wife Veronica; daughter, Diane Lippert and husband Joel; grandchildren, Bret Henneke and wife Mallory, Ryan Henneke and wife Meghan, Lauren Henneke Marshall and husband Sean, Michelle Gaugler Payne and husband Brian, Alex Gaugler and fiancé Kathy Carrasco, Jordan Lippert, Marti Lippert Riley and husband Dean; great grandchildren, Clara Henneke, Hayes Henneke, Henry Henneke, Marley Henneke and Jack Henneke.
