She grew up in Caldwell, Kansas where she was the Yearbook Editor and represented her high school at Girls State her Senior Year before attending Kansas State Teachers College (Emporia State University). After a living in Broken Arrow, Bartlesville and Renner (Dallas), Nita and family moved to OKC in 1975. Nita loved hosting parties and being involved with her kids and their friends during their years in high school at Putnam City North and Oklahoma State University. The Miller home was always a gathering place for Homecoming sign painting parties, social gatherings and her annual schedule day party before school started. It was not unusual at the Miller house to wake up on a weekend and have numerous unplanned collegiate house guests for breakfast or the weekend.
Since her retirement, she has enjoyed times spent with her children and grandchildren following their sport and activities. She played Bunco regularly with a group of ladies since the 1980s and enjoyed playing Bridge with two groups of ladies. She also enjoyed her breakfast group, always looking for the next place to try. Nita was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Blanche Hunt.
