Norma Ann (Sanders) Borders passed away November 24, 2013 at Elmcroft Assisted Living Center, Oklahoma City. She was born on March 3, 1933 to Fred and Vivian Sanders, Oklahoma City. She graduated from Classen High School, where she was active in drama. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, and graduated in 1954 with a BA in Elementary Education. She married her college sweetheart, Robert Edward Borders, taught kindergarten for two years and then was a homemaker, volunteering for many events through the Junior League, Christ the King Catholic Church and the Girl Scouts. She had impeccable style and worked at John A. Brown at Quail Springs, as well as St. John's at Northpark Mall, where she was fondly remembered. Beautiful inside and out, Norma brightened everywhere she went with her lovely, infectious smile. A devout convert to Catholicism, she truly lived her faith and loved her faith community. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Rob Borders, and her husband. She is survived by her brother, Richard Sanders of Los Altos, CA, her daughter, Rebecca Borders Fredell, Colorado Springs, CO and children Zach Fredell, Sulayarit, Mexico and Rachel Fredell, Santa Fe, NM, and her son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Elizabeth Borders, Edmond, OK and their children, James, Margo, Emily and Monica Borders, Edmond, OK. Norma was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and she will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial gifts may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org). Visitation will be at Smith & Kernke, May on Wednesday from 9 am – 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church on Friday at 10 am. Interment will be at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
