Norma Junelle Marsden passed away on Monday evening, April 9 at the age of 89 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on June 3, 1928, to Norman Sidrick Owrey and Alma Anderson Owrey. Junelle graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City and earned a B.A. in Education from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma where she was Valedictorian and gave the Valedictorian address at graduation. She taught 7th grade English for 20 years at Moore Central Junior High School until her retirement in 1984. She met her husband, Luther Durwood Marsden, while attending Oklahoma Baptist University. They were married in 1948 in Shawnee, OK. They spent almost every day together for 67 years. They resided in the Oklahoma City area during their entire marriage and, shared a room at the Bellevue Health and Rehabilitation Center for three years. They had three children, James L. Marsden (wife Ruth), Peggy L. Wimberley, and Nancy L. Marsden. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her daughter and son in law Nancy and Michael Cure. She is survived by her brother Norman David Owrey, her sister Cherrie Ann Shelton and her children, James Marsden and Peggy Wimberley. Junelle had seven grandchildren, Jeffrey D. Marsden, James P. Marsden, Robert E. Marsden, Jennifer M. Marsden, Elizabeth J. Marsden, Justin M. Cure (wife Sydney), and Steven W. Wimberley. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Jack H. Marsden, Mary J. Marsden, Luca W. Marsden, Cora L. Cure, and Savannah J. Cure. She was devoted to her husband and family who loved her dearly. All who knew her were enriched by her affection and kindness. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel.
