Oletha Maxine Mccoy

This world is a better place because she was in it: 'tis no coincidence that the meaning of her name is "beautiful white clouds." Oletha M. McCoy, 94, traveled to her heavenly home on December 21, 2011. Born the daughter of a Baptist Minister, at age five she dedicated herself to the Lord. When she was twenty-one, she married the love of her life, Paul Rob McCoy, and enjoyed fifty-three years of successful marriage. She also relished in a prosperous career with Pacific Bell Telephone, now AT&T, and retired in her sixties. Thereafter, volunteering, she taught English Second Language, and continued doing so into her late 80's. In addition to being reunited with her beloved husband, she's also enjoying a reunion with her mom and dad; James and Nellie McCoy, and her only sibling, Jessie Pearl. She is survived by three nieces; Kathleen Kittle, Carolyn Viers, and Judy McCoy; one nephew, Robert McCoy; four great nieces, her God-daughter, Janet Ichinose; and her honorary grandson and his wife, Christopher and Diane Michael. She also bids farewell to dear friends; Joe Koch, Frank and Sachi Kawana, Donna Cooper and a host of many others. A memorial service will be held at 10:00am, on December, 31, 2011, in the Independent Living Dining Room at Baptist Village Retirement Center, 9700 Mashburn Boulevard, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers, Oletha requested memorial donations be made to her favored charity: American Indian Education Foundation, 2401 Eglin Street, Rapid City, SD, 57703. Phone # is 866-866-8642.
