Opal was born February 18, 1924, in Orlando-Mulhall, OK, to Oscar T. and Minerva Long. She passed away September 1, 2017, at her home. Opal grew up in Orlando-Mulhall and graduated high school there. She was married to James Russell Wallen. Opal was a founding member of Grace Bible Church in Del City where she actively taught Sunday School, always helped with Vacation Bible School, and was a leader of Pioneer Girls. She later attended First Southern Baptist Church for 30 years. In the 80's, Opal returned to college and earned an Associate's Degree in Accounting. She enjoyed gardening and hosted a Garden Club with her neighbors. The family lived in Del City for 53 years, prior to moving to Oklahoma City, next door to their son and his family. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Jim; son, Mark and his wife Angee; two grandsons whom she adored, Matthew and Michael; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Pearl and Ruby; and brother Bud. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. Burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
