Patrick J. Fitzpatrick was born January 22, 1964, and left this world on August 28, 2024. His sudden passing leaves an immense void in the lives of his family and those who loved him. Pat is survived by his 3 loving children, Haley Fitzpatrick, Leann Fitzpatrick and Ryan Fitzpatrick, his mother Alice Fitzpatrick, and sisters and brothers, Kathleen (Bill) Snyder of Wichita KS, Colleen (Bob) Costello of Edmond, Martha (Jeff) Justice of Edmond, Brian (Carol) Fitzpatrick of Inver Grove Hgts, MN, and Daniel (Suzanne) Fitzpatrick of OKC and sister-in-law Mary Fitzpatrick. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Sr. and brother Robert Jr. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Pat grew up in Detroit and OKC, graduating from Bishop McGuinness HS before graduating from OU, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. With his easy-going nature and quick wit, Pat made many friendships that he kept throughout his life. His likability also made him a natural salesman and after a stint with DataTimes, he took great pride in his 21 years of work as a surgical instrumentation rep in St Louis. After his move to OKC, he worked as a sales manager for commercial surveillance companies.
With a philosopher’s mind and a comedian’s sense of delivery, Pat moved through the world in a unique way. Not one to judge others, he saw many shades of color where others saw black and white. Pat liked to live simply, keeping a garden, walking with his sister, taking care of his parents and having frequent conversations with his children, each of whom he was immensely proud. With everything he did, there was always a well-curated soundtrack of his favorite music playing in the background.
He richly touched the lives of those he surrounded with his unique blend of humor and grace. Known for his quirky charm and classic sensibility, Pat brought a distinctive, understated wit to every occasion. Whether sharing a laugh or offering a sage piece of advice, his presence was marked by a timeless elegance and a refreshing sense of humor. As a dad to his 3 children, he infused their home with love and laughter, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Pat’s legacy of warmth, humor and character will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, especially his 3 children.
He recently shared this quote with a friend, and it describes Pat well:
Few people know how to take a walk, The qualifications are endurance, plain clothes, old shoes, an eye for nature, good humor, vast curiosity, good speech, good silence, and nothing too much. Ralph Waldo Emerson
A private memorial will be held at a future date. Pat’s greatest wish was to pay off his children’s educational debts before he died, a testament to his deep love and unwavering commitment to securing their future. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Fitzpatrick Children Educational Fund: Leann Fitzpatrick 234 Ruddiman Drive, North Muskegon MI, 49445; Venmo: @Leann-Fitzpatrick (last 4 are 5213). As Pat would often say at the end of a phone call, “more later.”
