Paul Laseman, 96 of Oklahoma City, passed away on October 16, 2017. Paul was born December 1, 1920 in Roff, Oklahoma. He graduated Roff High School in 1938. He attended Oklahoma State University and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He graduated in 1942 with a B.A. in Zoology and Chemistry. He then entered the United States Marine Corp in 1942 and served two years in the South Pacific. After the war he entered the USMC Active Reserve retiring as a Colonel. Returning to Oklahoma, Paul received his Bachelor and Masters of Art in History from Oklahoma State University in 1947. Upon the completion of his degrees he taught for 10 years at Ponca City High School. He then moved to California where he received his Masters of Library Science from the University of Southern California. While in California he served as President of the South Lake Chamber of Commerce, President of the South Lake Rotary Club and was a Senior Librarian for the Los Angeles County Library System. Upon Paul's return to Oklahoma City he met his wife Wanda Fraher. They loved to travel and Paul enjoyed gardening, playing the stock market, watching OSU sports and spending time with family and friends. He also became a member of the Westerners Club and Sneed-Reaves Independent Confederate Camp No. 1417 and a member of the BPOE. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Connie and daughters Carole Johns, Rebecca Laseman and Sylvia Sue Smith. Survived by his wife Wanda Laseman, daughter Mary Stack and husband Stan of Oklahoma City; grandson Hunter Stack of Oklahoma City, granddaughter Emily Stack of Austin, TX; daughter Diane Thornton and husband Steve of New York City; son-in-law Jeff Johns of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughters Jessica, Erin, and Lindsay Johns of Pittsburgh, PA and many beloved friends. A mighty redwood has fallen and he will be missed. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday October 21, 2017 at Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel. Burial will follow at Rose Hill with full military honors rendered by the USMC. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
