Pauline Platt Douglas was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, to Joseph P. and Bettie Platt, the youngest of their six children. Joseph Platt, Pauline's father, made the Land Rush of April 22, 1889 into the Unassigned Lands and settled 160 acres in what was to become Oklahoma City. He later moved with his family to Holdenville. Pauline attended schools in Holdenville. She attended the University of Oklahoma from which she graduated with a BS degree. She married Raley F. Wilson and moved with him to Illinois where she taught school. They adopted two young girls, daughters Bettie Jo and Gloria. After Raley died, Pauline and the girls moved back to Oklahoma where she continued to teach school. She married Stephen A. Douglas in 1974. They were active members of Church of the Servant. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, and her daughter, Gloria (Jones). She is survived by daughter, Bettie Jo Zachary; her grandsons, Bobby Allen Jay, Jason Jones, and Tommy Sorrels, and by her nephew, Thomas E. Nix, Jr., M.D. A loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, she will be remembered for the many kindnesses shown by her to her family and friends. Memorial service will be held Friday, October 20, 2017 at 10:30 am at Brill Chapel at Epworth Villa Retirement Community. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Holdenville Cemetery.
