Peggy Ruth "Oma" Banes

Peggy passed away on December 10, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. She was born October 25, 1946 to Leslie and Ruth Woods in Placerville, California. She met the love of her life and husband of 52 years, LeRoy Harold Banes. They married in 1964 and together they built a life of faith and family, the two most important things to Peggy throughout her life. Leroy and Peggy began their life together in California and moved to Oklahoma in 1973 where they raised their children and grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, LeRoy "Roy" Banes; her seven treasured children, daughter, Lynn Stewart; son, Roy Banes, Jr. and his fiancé Morgen Elkins; daughter, Terri Tucker and her husband Kevin; daughter, Audrey Banes; daughter, Bonnie Schlarb and her husband Kevin; son, Gary Banes and his wife Shelly; daughter, Julie Dreiling and her husband Craig; her cherished grandchildren, Sam, Bridgett, John Paul and Maryn Stewart, Cody and Courtney Banes and Valerie and Jackson Elkins, Lauren and Trey Tucker, Natalie, Nathan and Tyler Schlarb, Kelsey and Christopher Flatt, Addison, Elle and Ainsley Banes, Jett, London and Baylor Dreiling. Peggy will be remembered for her strong Catholic Faith, her immense devotion to God and her family. She was affectionately called "Oma" by all that knew and loved her. Her most cherished moments in life was her daily prayer time with her husband and spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. Her legacy of kindness, loving spirit, generosity and giving nature will endure through generations. She was selfless, always placing others before herself. Peggy displayed great strength, a beautiful outlook in all circumstances and her smile and sweet voice lit up a room. There will be an Evening Prayer Service to honor her Monday, December 12th at 6:00 p.m. at the Smith & Kernke N. May Chapel with the Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Catholic Church, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Interment will follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
